Creating and Verifying Your Meta Business Account

Your Meta Business Account (Business Manager) is the foundation of your WhatsApp Business Platform setup. It’s where you manage your company identity, team access, billing, WhatsApp Business Accounts (WABA), phone numbers, templates, and verification.
This guide covers two things:
1.
How to create a Business Manager cleanly
2.
How to verify it (so you unlock higher trust + fewer roadblocks later)

Part A — Creating Your Meta Business Account (Business Manager)#

1) Create a Business Manager#

1.
Log in to Meta using the account that will own your business assets.
2.
Create a new Business Manager.
3.
Enter:
Business name
Your name
Business email
✅ Once created, you’ll land in Business Settings.

2) Fill in Business Info (do this immediately)#

Go to Business Settings → Business Info and add:
Legal business name
Address
Website
Support email
Business phone (optional but helpful)
Why this matters:
Meta uses this info during verification and display name review. If your business info is incomplete, verification buttons can stay disabled and approvals take longer.

3) Add your website and make it “verification-friendly”#

Meta reviewers often check your website quickly.
Make sure your site has:
Your brand name visible (header/footer)
About / Contact page
Support email visible
(Optional but strong) Address and company details
If your website looks temporary or blank, approvals get harder.

4) Add people and assign roles (recommended)#

Go to Business Settings → People:
Add at least 1 backup admin (co-founder/ops/tech lead).
Assign roles properly:
Admin (full control)
Employee (limited access)
Tip: Don’t keep your entire Business Manager dependent on one personal account.

Part B — Verifying Your Meta Business Account#

Business Verification is Meta’s way to confirm your company is real.
It’s not always required to start sending messages, but it helps unlock:
Higher trust
Faster approvals in many cases
Smoother scaling and account management

1) When should you verify?#

You should verify if:
You’re a serious business sending business-initiated messages (templates)
You want to reduce future approval friction
You plan to scale to higher messaging tiers
You want to apply for green tick (later)
If you’re just testing, you can start without verification and do it after onboarding is stable.

2) Where to start verification#

In Meta Business Manager:
1.
Go to Business Settings
2.
Open Security Center
3.
Look for Business Verification
4.
Click Start Verification
If the button is greyed out, read:
Start Verification Button Greyed Out? Here’s What to Do

3) What you need before starting verification#

Prepare these:
Legal business name and address (must match documents)
Business website that matches your brand name
A proof document (see below)
A working phone/email for verification

4) What documents are usually accepted?#

Meta commonly asks for a document that proves your business details, such as:
Business registration certificate
VAT/GST registration document
Tax filing document
Utility bill (in some cases)
Important:
The document must match:
business name
address
legal entity info
If mismatched, verification fails or gets delayed.

5) Verification method (phone/email)#

Meta may ask you to verify via:
Email (matching domain helps)
Phone call / OTP
Tip: Use an email on your business domain (e.g., support@yourdomain.com) if possible.

6) After submitting: what happens?#

Verification can take time depending on country and data quality.
If rejected:
Meta may request more documents
Or ask you to correct business info
If rejected repeatedly, usually the issue is:
document mismatch
unclear website identity
inconsistent business info

Best practices (avoid painful mistakes)#

✅ Use a Business Manager that your company truly owns
✅ Add a second admin early
✅ Keep your website brand + business info consistent
✅ Don’t use marketing language in official business fields
✅ Verify once your setup is stable (unless you already need it)
